Description

You will be responsible for managing a patch of over 200 properties, providing a comprehensive leasehold management service to the leaseholders of one of our main projects and for liaison with our local authority partners in leasehold management issues. You will be responsible for collecting outstanding Major Works, Service Charge and Ground Rent arrears and ensuring that appropriate action is taken to recover all outstanding debt including liaison with third party agencies. You will be responsible for dealing with all leasehold enquiries that are received within the target times. You will have responsibility for dealing with pre-assignment enquiries connected to the sale of properties.  You will work to enforce the contractual requirements of the lease and be proactive in taking appropriate follow up action for any breach of lease terms. 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Numerate and literate to a minimum GCSE Grades A-C
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Word and Excel packages
  • Understanding of customer care and quality issues
  • Thorough knowledge of Section 20 well as other up to date leasehold legislatibve knowledge
  • Experience in all aspects of leasehold management
  • Knowledge of delivering an effective leasehold services
  • Experience in a similar Leasehold Officer role

Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in housing management or other relevant degree.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in housing management within a housing association or local authority
  • Thorough and applied knowledge of leasehold management.
  • Experience of working for a developing organisation
  • Experience of presenting cases in court
  • Knowledge of Universal Housing computer package
  • Experience of working in an organisation where quality systems have been introduced
  • Ability to read and understand contracts.

Preferred Skills
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills working with a diverse customer base.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workloads
  • Understanding of the Association's objectives, policies and procedures and ability to apply them accordingly
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the Housing Services operational plan
  • Self motivated, performance driven with initiative to assess complex situations and make decisions quickly and effectively and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours on occasion to attend meetings.

  • Ability to take ownership and empower others accordingly
